AnyPS5 Requirements: Hardware, Software and Setup

Check the host, graphics baseline, required files and practical skills before downloading. Known prerequisites are separated from unproven hardware minimums.

Version and testing scope

Reviewed October 11, 2026. Download availability refers to v0.1.1; runtime details refer to the pinned development documentation below. New development behavior is not assumed to exist in that release. We have not independently tested game execution.

Operating system and CPU

Start with the target OS and an x86-64 host. The build documentation identifies that architecture for Windows/Linux game execution. An Intel CPU may need --to-intel to convert supported AMD-only instructions; this option does not make every instruction or title compatible.

Release availability and development scope are different checks.
PlatformWhat to expect
Windows x86-64v0.1.1 provides a relinker and Windows system-library archive. Keep the pair together.
Linux x86-64v0.1.1 provides a relinker and Linux system-library archive. Use Linux libraries for Linux output.
macOSNo macOS release package appears in v0.1.1. Development documentation describes experimental work.

macOS needs particular care: Usage describes x86-64 Mach-O output and Rosetta, while the relinker-only Build section still says output is Linux/Windows and excludes macOS game execution. These documents are inconsistent. A successful tool build on Apple silicon does not establish a supported game runtime.

The reviewed sources do not provide a universal minimum Windows version or Linux distribution guarantee. Check the exact build and its dependencies before treating an OS name as sufficient.

Graphics and memory: what is actually known

The development GPU-selection rules require a Vulkan 1.1 device with graphics and compute queues and swapchain presentation, preferring a discrete GPU. That is a selection baseline, not a complete compatibility specification. Shader support, driver behavior and unimplemented runtime features can still block a title.

No universal RAM or VRAM minimum is established by the reviewed documents. Hardware attached to a reported game result records that test setup; it does not define the weakest supported PC. Use the compatibility guide to interpret individual results.

Windows memory nuance

Development usage documents direct-memory allocations of up to 13824 MiB per title, committed in full when allocated. Windows' system commit limit must cover that allocation plus other committed memory. The limit includes RAM and the page file; it is not free RAM or VRAM. This figure is an allocation ceiling, not a minimum-memory recommendation.

For an allocation error, compare the requested allocation with Task Manager's Committed limit and follow the matching version's guidance. Buying more graphics memory does not directly answer a Windows commit-limit error.

Files and command-line skills

Prepare a clean ELF executable, its bundled ELF modules, separate game resources and the matching AnyPS5 system libraries. A filename ending in .elf does not prove the file has the right format. The relinker does not supply the game's resources.

You should be comfortable opening PowerShell or a Linux terminal, quoting paths, extracting archives and reading the first error. Keep source files separate from generated output. Our setup guide explains the release-specific module directories and runtime layout; use troubleshooting when a checkpoint fails.

Release user or developer?

A release user needs the matching relinker and library archive, not a compiler. The Windows release archive includes required toolchain DLLs. Self-built Windows libraries need the matching DLLs beside them, as Usage explains.

Building from source adds requirements. The pinned full-build guide lists Git, CMake 3.22.1 or newer, Ninja, C++20 and platform dependencies. Windows currently requires a specific MinGW-w64 GCC 15.2.0 toolchain. Relinker-only mode has fewer dependencies but does not build the system libraries needed to run a title. Follow the exact build guide for that separate workflow.

Controller, keyboard and mouse

The development input guide supports SDL-mapped controllers and built-in keyboard/mouse bindings. A controller is therefore not a universal prerequisite. Recognized controllers pass through analog sticks and triggers; keyboard/mouse overrides use anyps5-input.ini. Touchpad clicking is documented, but finger-touch coordinates are not implemented. Check the input documentation shipped with your version before assuming these features match v0.1.1.

Requirements questions

What are the minimum RAM and VRAM requirements?

The reviewed documentation does not establish universal RAM or VRAM minimums. Windows commit-limit guidance explains a specific allocation failure; it is not a benchmark-derived memory recommendation.

Does Vulkan 1.1 support mean a game will run?

No. It is part of the documented device-selection baseline. The title's shaders, required system functions, driver behavior and runtime implementation still determine whether it runs correctly.

Do I need a controller or a compiler?

Neither is a universal release prerequisite. Development input documentation includes keyboard and mouse bindings. Compilers and build tools are for source builds; check input behavior against your downloaded version.
